Nearly there

Well Eddie is nearly at the end of his kitten campaign, oh how I wish I could curl up in his pen and sleep through the day! He still loves the shows and it would seem quite likes staying over in hotels too, especially if he can keep mummy and daddy awake with his antics, helped of course by his show buddy Aimee!

He finalled in 9 of the 12 rings at Swanley and now has 31 finals so is discarding those lower points. Unfortunately the kitten counts have really dropped, probably time of year and also because everyone is trying to scrape in finals before England (not the UK) loses isolated status, so I don't think he'll be able to get BOB in the region but we can still try for a Regional Win (even though I said I wouldn't campaign this season)!

On the home front Marnie looks close to bursting point and the rest of the girls have all decided to call at the same time, we will be mating some of them up in the next few weeks. We still have some big babies to home though, back when they were babies everyone wanted cheap older kittens/cats now they are older everyone has decided that maybe they aren't quite as hard up as they thought and want little babies that are ready to go - arghh! I'm afraid my boys and girls are not a production line and we do not make to order, our babies are ready when they are ready and even then we occasionally run kittens on or they are not ready at exactly 13 weeks for other reasons.

The house is nearly finished!! Still some tiling and decorating to do but hopefully everything will be back to normal in a few weeks :-)

Ten out of Ten

We had a once in a lifetime show last weekend (I seriously doubt it will happen again) we were showing Eddie and Aimee (our American Curl) for both days at Oneforall cat club's show in Brigg, there were 5 rings each day and to our amazement both kittens finalled in all ten rings. Aimee finished 2nd Best in show and Eddie nibbled at her heels with 3rd Best and Best shorthair!!! They were beaten by a stunning Red Persian kitten, who was an amazing ball of fluff, and like Eddie, played like mad on the table.

Ollie came out on the Sunday, taking all 5 BOBs and two 7th Bests in the finals which now makes him a Double Grand :-)

We have new homes for some of the kittens and also our adorable Spring and hope they bring their new owners as much joy as they brought us. We still have 3 chunky monkey Selkirk kittens available and with much soul searching have decided to neuter Alfie and find him his forever pet home. Alfie was the first Cinnamon & White Selkirk to be born in the UK, his Cinnamon & White straight coated daughter has just joined us and we feel he has played his part. He has never been a sprayer, lives happily with the other boys (and of course girls) and is a general happy chappy, he will be 3 years old in July.

Comings and goings

At last we have had some sensible enquiries for our babies and a few left for new homes this past weekend. We still have kittens available, big as they may be, they are still very much kittens and knowing how our lines develop they have tons of growing still to do.
Eddie picked up another 3 finals at his last show and his next show is this weekend he is just getting to the big body little head stage but I am hoping he will come out of that quickly!
Our first British Shorthair kittens will be due at the end of March/start of April. Marnie is expecting to Morgan, Dee's gorgeous Black boy who is Lexi's dad. Marnie has a lovely coat, substance and eye colour for a Fawn but I hope to Morgan we will get babies with nice round chubby heads as well.
We are not planning any Selkirk matings until our current kittens have homes, although this is disappointing in many ways both for me and people waiting on specific kittens from us, it is the best thing in the long run. Our big kittens are just so soppy I don't want to see them being passed over for 'little babies' and I will not compromise on the amount of attention they receive.
